OSCAR PISTORIUS CONVICTED OF MANSLAUGHTER

Popular South African Olympic sprinter, Oscar Pistorius was convicted of manslaughter. He was acquitted of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, shot on Valentine's Day in 2013. The Paralympian maintained that he believed an intruder had entered his home.

Judge Thokozile Masipa said Pistorius had acted "too hastily" and had used "excessive force" by taking four shots through the door of the bathroom, adding that a "reasonable" person would not have acted in such a manner.

The Oscar Pistorius' trial lasted six months in Johannesburg, South Africa.
